He studied directing and musical theatre direction in Vienna and Berlin and has directed at, among others, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Leipzig Opera, the Cologne Opera, the Hamburg State Opera, the Royal Opera Copenhagen, the Gärtnerplatz Theatre Munich, the State Operas of Lisbon and Odessa, and the Edinburgh International Festival.
